The wildfire in the Carbon Creek area is now at 3.01 hectares.

Update (8:10 p.m. July 25th): this story has been updated as the fire has increased in size to 3.01 hectares.
FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The wildfire in the Carbon Creek area is now at 3.01 hectares.
The ‘out of control ‘ wildfire is located west of Hudson’s Hope, a short distance from a 0.2-hectare wildfire that was reported on July 15th and is currently ‘being held’ near Carbon Lake.
A ‘modified response,’ is being used for the fire.
According to the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS), a modified strategy is a combination of techniques designed to maximize “ecological benefits,” from the fire, while at the same time minimizing costs and potential damage, as the fire has no “immediate threat to values.”
BCWS says the cause of the fire is suspected to be a lightning strike.
