Man dead, homicide detectives investigating after fight in Maple Ridge, B.C.

MAPLE RIDGE — Homicide officers are investigating a fight in Metro Vancouver that left one man dead.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says in a release that RCMP were called to the scene Saturday evening near 223 Street and River Road in Maple Ridge, B.C.

Police say the call was for a “fight in progress,” and officers found a 28-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries.

The man died at the scene despite efforts from emergency responders.

Police have not said if they have identified or arrested a suspect in the case but say they believe the parties involved knew each other.

Investigators also say the fight appears to be isolated in nature and is not believed to be linked to gang activity.
