“An extended period of high temperatures will continue as a ridge of high pressure remains over the region. Little relief is expected at night with elevated overnight temperatures,” said Environment Canada.
The severe thunderstorm watch statement says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may produce strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain.
The thunderstorms are expected to continue until 11 p.m. Friday night in Fort St. John.
“Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors,” said Environment Canada.
