In April of 2024, we here at Energeticcity.ca ran the North Peace People’s Choice Awards. With these awards, the people of the North Peace region voted on who was the best of the best in a wide variety of categories. You can find the full list here, but we wanted to share some of the winners and runner-ups in specific categories to help showcase the awesome businesses and organizations that make our region a great place to live.

In this article, we are showcasing the best restaurants in the North Peace as voted by the people who live here. These restaurants offer great options in a wide variety of cuisines. According to Athul, the Chief Experience Officer for Mr Mikes Fort St John, they offer high-quality food, genuine guest services, and a casual, inviting experience for all to enjoy. Their menu includes popular dishes such as steaks, burgers, seafood, and pasta, and they have an extensive cocktail menu. Athul also attributes their success to their team, who always go the extra mile for their guests.

Best Chinese Food: Mama Panda

9608 100th Street, Fort St John, BC

Mama Panda was established in 1978 and offers buffet and takeout for their authentic Chinese flavours. According to the manager of Mama Panda, she believes the reason for their success is that they have been open for almost 50 years, meaning they have perfected their menu and dishes.

Best Filipino Food: Audielicious

9720 100th Street, Fort St John, BC

Established in 2019, Audielicious is a seafood restaurant that covers lunch and dinner options. While they offer different cuisines such as Mexican, Asian, and Western, they were voted the best Filipino food in the region. Owner Audie Banania placed 2nd in his group in the Carla Hall Presents Favorite Chef and was also voted the Best Entrepreneur in the North Peace People’s Choice Awards.

Best Greek Food: Olive Tree Mediterranean Grill

Olive Tree Mediterranean Grill offers fresh, fast, and delicious Mediterranean-style food that includes donairs, salads, and traditional plates, with gluten-free and vegetarian options. Their stated goal is to offer their customers a tasty and healthy eating experience.

Best Indian Food: Spicy Fusion

Ravinder Billing moved to Fort St. John in 2013 and purchased Airport Cafe. He started selling Indian food there but the demand grew so rapidly that by 2014 he opened a second location in town. Spicy Fusion prides itself on its ambrosial menu. Each item is carefully crafted to entice your taste buds.

Best Italian Food: Olio’s Pizzeria & Eatery

Over its 16 years in business, Olio’s Pizzeria & Eatery has expanded as demand for more sit-down options was expressed in the community. The owner of the business, Marilyn, believes what sets them apart from the competition is their quality and use of premium ingredients. Olio’s makes as many of its menu items from scratch as possible. While their main focus is pizza, Marilyn recommends everyone try their homemade lasagna and other pasta dishes.

Best Japanese Food: Sushi Heaven

As their name implies, Sushi Heaven specializes in a wide variety of sushi such as nigiri, sashimi, maki, and more. They even have specialized options such as the Fort St John roll. Other Japanese cuisine options include tempura, yakisoba, donburi, and more. The owners and employees of Sushi Heaven believe the main reason they stand out from the competition is their dedication to freshness, a good atmosphere, and well-trained staff.

Best Mexican Food: Bar Burrito

Although it has only been opened in Fort St John for a couple of years, Bar Burrito has made an impact as they have been voted the Best Mexican Food in the North Peace. The owner, Kritish, believes the key to their success is that they make everything fresh as they prep the food every morning. Customers are able to customize their preferences from burritos to tacos and more.
