FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — For those looking to tantalize their taste buds, the Taste of Fort St. John will be coming back for its seventh consecutive year this long weekend.

Scheduled to take place at the Fort St. John Curling Club, the annual event is hosted by the Fort St. John Multicultural Society.

According to Alan Yu, the society’s director and founder, there will be more food selections based on his interactions with patrons in the past year.

He says food is universal in celebrating multiculturalism, and the event is one of the few on the community calendar where multiple cultures will be celebrated in one place.

“We will have more food choices,” said Yu.  “There will be more sample size servings so attendees can sample all different types of food.”

Returning vendors from last year include Island Flava with jerk chicken and beef patties to taste.  Also returning will be Olive Tree, a Mediterranean vendor Yu says has been with the event from the beginning.

New this year will be Fluffy Unicorn Sugar Shack, who will be sampling their cotton candy, and Dimsum Kinds of Richmond, B.C., which will also include Japanese and Taiwanese dishes as well as traditional Chinese cuisine.

Yu says that with new arrivals to Fort St. John who may not have tried the differing cuisines of the world, the event is an optimal time to come and taste.

The event will be held at Fort St. John Curling Club on June 29th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
