Seven violations result in $22,335 fine for Brocor Construction
Brocor Construction Ltd. was handed a hefty $22,335.46 fine from WorkSafe BC following seven violations which occurred at a worksite in Taylor last July.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Brocor Construction Ltd. was handed a hefty $22,335.46 fine from WorkSafe BC following seven violations which occurred at a worksite in Taylor last July.
According to a summary issued by WorkSafe BC, Brocor Construction was the prime contractor at a highway construction site located at the intersection of Highway 97 and 230 Road.
During an inspection on July 13th, 2023, WorkSafe BC observed traffic being controlled in an unsafe manner. Brocor Construction had failed to conduct a traffic control risk assessment, and no traffic control plan was in place.

Other violations include an incomplete exposure control plan for respirable crystalline silica (RCS) and missing necessary elements for first aid procedures in the site safety plan.
“As the prime contractor at a multiple-employer workplace, the firm failed to do everything reasonable to establish and maintain a system of regulatory compliance,” the summary stated.
“The firm also failed to ensure the health and safety of all workers at its worksite. These were both repeated and high-risk violations.”
According to WorkSafe BC’s inspection notes, the company has complied with violations one, two, three, four, five, and seven, and violation six’s status is “closed.”
