Fort St. John North Peace Museum Update: Record setting Family Day weekend
The Fort St. John North Peace Museum welcomed a record 265 people to their Family Day Weekend Transportation Scavenger Hunt and Open House.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — We welcomed a record 265 people to our Family Day Weekend Transportation Scavenger Hunt and Open House this past weekend!
Families had a great time counting transportation-related items, reading fun facts and stories, and tracking down photographs and artifacts related to transportation around the museum.
We gave away over 100 prizes, from candy to mugs. Thanks to our volunteers and the Province of British Columbia for helping make this free event possible.
The North Peace Historical Society’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 28th, at 7 p.m. at the Fort St. John North Peace Museum.
Our guest speaker will be Richard Neufeld. He formerly served as our MLA, Minister of Energy and Mines, and Senator.
Tickets are $10 and are on sale now. The AGM will be followed by tea, coffee, and baked goods. All are welcome (no membership required).
We are also looking for a few new directors to sit on our board. Being a director involves meeting with the rest of the board for about an hour on the third Wednesday of each month. Directors are encouraged to participate in museum events or serve on museum committees as they are able.

Our archives staff has responded to nearly thirty inquiries so far this year. We do 30 minutes of research for everyone.
The vast majority of our inquiries involve family history, photograph requests, or searching the Alaska Highway News. Our newspaper scanners are working on scanning the 2006 Alaska Highway News while staff also works to take PDFs of the newspaper off disc (about to start 2011).
Volunteers continue to scan and catalogue our large collection of Rudy Schubert’s negatives of people, events, and places in this area in the 1950s and 1960s.
