FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Northern Lights College (NLC) will open its doors to potential students at a day-long event next week.

An open house is scheduled for Wednesday, February 25th at the Fort St. John campus.

Located on the northern edge of the city, the college’s website says it hosts 1,800 students per year. Offering courses in eight cities throughout northern B.C., the school was founded in 1975.

According to the institution’s manager of student recruitment, Coline Casey, the open house happens on an annual basis, but usually takes place during the fall.

She says over the last two years, domestic student enrollment has grown by 30 per cent.

“We typically do it in the fall, but due to renovations in Fort St. John, we pushed it back [from 2025] so that we could showcase the new campus areas,” said Casey.

Part of the renovations is a new healthcare lab. Casey told Energeticcity.ca nursing program instructors will have stations and activities lined up for attendees to experience.

“It is going to be engaging and a lot of fun,” said Casey. “[Attendees will] be able to participate and learn a bit about how things are and experience a taste of what it might be like to be in programs.”

The open house will also host two other related events during the day: an Energy and Environment Expo during the afternoon, as well as a networking event held in partnership with the Fort St. John and District Chamber of Commerce in the evening.

“Northern Lights College has a handful of environmental programs,” said Casey. “During the open house, we’re going to have a staff and student meet and greet, so people will be able to talk to current students and ask them questions and get a feel for their learning journey.

“After 5 [p.m.], people can come and enjoy information on the college and then also network with other local business leaders. There are a lot of different reasons to come to campus that day and then just see what else is going on at the same time.”

NLC’s open house, Energy and Environment Expo and networking mixer takes place on Wednesday, February 25th, with the open house beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The events are free of charge. To register for the open house and Energy and Environment Expo, contact Casey at 250-219-3198 or info@nlc.bc.ca
