City council awards Kids Arena Fieldhouse construction to local company

Council has awarded the third phase of construction on the Kids Arena Fieldhouse to WL Construction of Fort St. John.

FORT ST. JOHN  — Council has awarded the third phase of construction on the Kids Arena Fieldhouse to WL Construction of Fort St. John. 

Council pre-approved the tender of $518,900.00 on January 8th during their meeting before accepting the 2024 Capital budget. 

“Early award of this project allows numerous advantages in terms of pricing and full utilization of staff and contractor capacity early in the year,” said Chief Administrative Officer Milo MacDonald in a report to council.

The next phase will include the construction of new washrooms, change rooms and storage. 

Renovations that have been completed to date include the lobby and upstairs, as well as the demolition of the old change rooms, washrooms, and bleachers.
