Dawson Creek sees decrease in violent crime since arrival of specialized units
Since the arrival of specialized units in Dawson Creek, violent crime has decreased significantly, according to the North District RCMP.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Since the arrival of specialized units in Dawson Creek, violent crime has decreased significantly, according to the North District RCMP.
According to Corporal Madonna Saunderson with the North District RCMP, Dawson Creek officers investigated 15 violent crime files with ties to organized crime groups since October 31st.
Once additional resources were brought into Dawson Creek on December 12th, they focused on various gangs and drug networks operating in the region with targeted enforcement toward a couple of prolific offenders.
Since early November, the RCMP has conducted 113 vehicle stops and 20 individual residence checks.
“Dawson Creek RCMP will continue conducting dedicated, proactive enhanced enforcement initiatives, focusing our efforts on apprehending those responsible for these violent and often public offences,” said Inspector Steve McLeod, North District RCMP’s Operations Officer.
“Through proactive policing measures, we are committed to ensuring community safety in the community of Dawson Creek.”
On December 12th, Prince George’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, the Lower Mainland’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team and the North District Emergency Response Team were deployed to Dawson Creek.

Investigative and operational resources from Fort St. John, the North District General Investigation Section, the Cariboo Crime Reduction Unit and the BC Highway Patrol have also assisted.
Resources continue to deploy to the city, focusing on locating and apprehending those responsible.
