District of Hudson’s Hope announces nomination period for vacant councillor seat

The District of Hudson’s Hope has announced its nomination period for its vacant councillor position following Kelly Miller’s resignation in October.

HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. — The District of Hudson’s Hope has announced its nomination period for its vacant councillor seat following Kelly Miller’s resignation in October.

According to a public notice on the district’s website, candidate applications will be accepted from 9 a.m. on January 9th until 4 p.m. on January 19th, 2024. 

An individual can be nominated, elected and hold office as a member of local government if they meet the qualifications set out by the district.

In order to qualify, an individual must be a Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or older on general voting day, and a resident of B.C. for at least six months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed. 

They must also not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in a B.C. election, being nominated for, elected to, or holding the office, or being otherwise disqualified by law. 

General voting day is scheduled for February 24th, 2024.

Information on the requirements and procedures for making nominations, including nomination forms, can be obtained at the district office during regular office hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays.
