FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Triangle Park residents continue to be concerned about their safety after reports of shots fired on Sunday night were later proved to be fireworks.

A resident took to Facebook to complain about shots being fired in the area, but Staff Sergeant Scott Watson with the Fort St. John RCMP confirmed the sounds heard were fireworks.

Residents of the neighbourhood on 112th Avenue recently raised safety concerns online about a specific house in the area that has been linked to two reports of gunfire in the past few months.

On November 2nd, gunshots were fired in the area, resulting in bullet holes going through a neighbouring home and four people being taken into custody for questioning.

Three months prior, on August 2nd, police received a report of shots fired in the area, resulting in the arrest of four suspects. The group was charged with breaking into a residence and firing shots into the home.

The City of Fort St. John and the local RCMP say they are seeking solutions, including targeted enforcement, provincial civil forfeiture and bylaws.
