Stoddart Creek evacuation order rescinded, alert remains in place

The Peace River Regional District has rescinded the Stoddart Creek evacuation order based on recommendations from the BC Wildfire Service.

CHARLIE LAKE, B.C. — The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) has rescinded the Stoddart Creek evacuation order based on recommendations from the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS).

As of September 24th at 4 p.m., residents affected by the Stoddart Creek evacuation order were allowed to return home, though an evacuation alert remains.

  • From the southern boundary of Blueberry River First Nations reserve lands and the Blueberry River east to the bridge on the Prespatou Road;
  • South along Prespatou Road to a point 3.2 kilometres north of 264 Road;
  • Due west to a point 3.2 kilometres east of the Beatton Airport Road;
  • Due north to the point of intersection with the Blueberry River.

The alert does not affect First Nations communities or municipalities because they will issue separate orders and alerts.

An evacuation alert is still under effect for Blueberry River First Nation.

The Stoddart Creek wildfire is classified as out of control at approximately 29,506 hectares. It was started on May 13th and is suspected to be caused by humans.
