Superintendent at School District 60 Stephen Petrucci says that the district is very pleased with the donations that local firefighters have been providing throughout the years.

These include items like backpacks and school supplies, which further support children in the community.

Petrucci also says there have been conversations with the province about how things might be supported in the future.

“Effective this year, SD 60 has received a total of $800,000 from the province to cover things like staffing, food, delivering meals, programs and breakfast programs… Moving forward, we’re fairly well supported for food now in our schools,” said Petrucci.

School District 60 is very thankful for financial support from the province, but Petrucci made sure to thank unconditional community supporters like the local firefighters.

“We’re very pleased that we’re getting this ongoing provincial funding and very grateful to our community supports like the Fort St. John firefighters and Sand and Stone, as well as all our industry partners who helped us in so many ways.”
