FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – ‘EX SITU’, an art exhibit featuring the work of eight local Filipino-Canadian artists, is on display now until October 30 at Peace Gallery North.
According to Exhibit Presenter and Curator Ovvian Hill, this is the second exhibit to feature the work of Filipino-Canadian artists, with the first one taking place in 2019.
“It’s the second exhibit of Filipino-Canadian artists in Fort St. John with the first one we had last year, and that was in celebration of Filipino Heritage Month of June 2019. That was the very first Filipino Heritage Month.”
The 2020 edition of ‘EX SITU’ was originally scheduled for June of this year, in line with Filipino Heritage Month, but was rescheduled to October due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Hill says the exhibit features the work of local Filipino-Canadian artists in various forms of media, such as brass and wood, ink and oil paints, and photography.
As part of the exhibit, various pieces of work are up for auction in support of the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation. Art work can be bid on by joining the EX SITU Art Auction Facebook group.
If you are unable to visit the exhibit in person, a virtual version is available on the EX SITU 2020 Facebook page.
