Open houses being held for South Peace Fringe Area OCP
As a result, all South Peace Fringe Area residents are invited to participate in "Confirming Community Direction", an open house designated for the Official Community Plan of the SPFA.
This specific OCP area covers approximately 95,900 hectares, which includes a large part of Electoral Area ‘D’, as well as rural areas surrounding the city of Dawson Creek and Pouce Coupe. It also includes the unincorporated communities of Tomslake, Tupper, Briar Ridge, Bessborough, Upper Cutbanks and Arras.
This OCP will be focusing on the densely populated areas which overlap with the rural fire protection and building inspection areas. It aims to address unique land use and planning issues associated with the rural planning area.
Once adopted, the Official Community Plan serves as a foundation for all policies, regulations and decisions regarding land use and development in the Plan’s area.
The following three open houses are a great opportunity for the SPFA residents to comment on the draft OCP document and provide important feedback on desired policy and directions.
Open houses will be held Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the Devereux Elementary school in Arras, Wednesday, Feb.15 at the Tupper Community Hall in Tomslake and Thursday, Feb.16, at the PRRD head office in Dawson Creek.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with presentations beginning at 7 p.m.
The draft version of the South Peace Fringe Area Official Community Plan will be available on the PRRD official website on Feb.1, 2012.
An OCP is a general statement of objectives and policies to guide decisions on planning and land use management, respecting the purposes of local government, within a designated planning area. Revisions to the Plan require public consultation and formal approval by the Board of Directors.
