South Peace Search and Rescue teeing off for golf fundraiser
South Peace Search and Rescue’s golf tournament fundraiser will take place on Saturday, July 25, at the Dawson Creek Golf and Country Club

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Supporters of the South Peace Search and Rescue (SPSAR) will tee off for the cause later this summer.
Scheduled for Saturday, July 25, SPSAR’s golf tournament will raise funds for the organization, and the event is described as “a day of great golf, incredible food, exciting prizes and community spirit,” according to a Facebook post.
The SPSAR is a volunteer-run organization, providing unpaid professionals in ground rescue operations, specializing in searching for people in immediate distress and imminent danger.

Coordinating with local RCMP units and Emergency Management B.C., the SPSAR provides “the highest level of search capability for people lost not only in the backcountry or wilderness areas, but in urban and suburban terrain as well,” according to its website.
A Facebook post about the event says teams of two or four players can register, and groups will play in a best-ball format.
The day-long event will also include a $10,000 hole-in-one challenge, where participants will line up for a chance to ace a hole on the Dawson Creek Golf and Country Club’s course.
Prizes will be awarded throughout the event. Afterward, dinner will be served, courtesy of Lawrence Packing Company and the golf course’s kitchen.
