One arrested following stabbing in Dawson Creek

Dawson Creek RCMP have arrested one person following a stabbing on June 29.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — One person is in custody following a stabbing in Dawson Creek, which resulted in a victim being sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In a July 2 news release, Dawson Creek RCMP said they are investigating a stabbing which left one person injured on June 29. 

“At approximately 10:58 a.m., Dawson Creek RCMP were called to a report of an assault in the 9600-block of 15th Street,” the release said.

According to Dawson Creek RCMP, officers located the victim, who had sustained a lower torso stab wound at the property. 

Police said a female suspect was later found and arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody as the investigation continues. 

According to Court Services Online, Vicki Ominayak has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and aggravated assault as of June 29.

The victim received medical treatment for injuries which are believed to be non-life-threatening.
