Nominations open for 19th annual Fort St. John Community Awards
Nominations are now open for the 2026 City of Fort St. John Community Awards.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Nominations are now open for the 19th annual City of Fort St. John Community Awards.
According to the City of Fort St. John, the awards are coming up on Sept. 12 and will be held at the Moose FM Block Party.
“The Community Awards allow us to publicly recognize and honour the individuals, groups and businesses whose talent, dedication and generosity have greatly contributed to life in Fort St. John,” the city said.

There are four different categories for awards, according to the city:
The youth award recognizes an individual or youth group that has made a positive contribution to the community on a volunteer basis by developing a project, serving on a committee or performing other volunteer work for organizations or groups.
To be eligible for the youth award, nominees must have made their contribution within the last 12 months, be 18 years old or younger and not have won the award in the last three years.
The Non-Profit Award will recognize a group of individuals or an organization whose actions, commitment and volunteer leadership, along with service and community spirit, have had a positive impact on the community.

The Business Award will recognize nominees for their contributions to social innovation, mentorship and community investment, among other areas.
Those nominated are required to have made their contribution in the last year and must not have won the award in the last three years.
Citizen of the Year will recognize an individual or group of individuals who have achieved an “exemplary” reputation inside and outside the community with their actions.
The nominee is known by peers as a leader or role model and contributes meaningfully to the community.
Nominees are only eligible if they have made their contribution in the last year and have not won the award in the last three years.
Those submitting nominations should be thorough, the city said, as their descriptions will be the only information judges use to base their decisions.
Nominations should describe the importance of the contribution from the nominee in their field or community.
It should also describe who benefited from the nominee’s contribution and how the nominee has become a role model and inspired others in the community.
Ineligible nominees include municipal, provincial or federal politicians who currently hold office; individuals on the Community Awards Planning Committee; any businesses, individuals, or organizations that won an award in the past three years; nominations that lack adequate information; and those who nominate themselves.
