New wildfire east of Fort St. John reported by BC Wildfire Service

The two-hectare wildfire reported on June 24th is believed to be caused by a lightning strike, according to BC Wildfire Service

A new wildfire has been reported east of Fort St. John, near the Alberta border (BC Wildfire Service)

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has reported a new wildfire near the Alberta border.

According to the BCWS, the two-hectare fire was reported on Wednesday, June 24th, in an area northwest of the Osborn River, northeast of Fort St. John.

The wildfire authority says “suppression efforts are underway” to contain the “out of control” fire, which is expected to expand beyond its current perimeter.
