FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The MLA for Peace River North is exploring options for constituents displaced by the ongoing Old Fort landslide.Â
In a May 1st Facebook post, MLA Jordan Kealy announced he has organized a town hall meeting for “residents impacted by the current landslide blocking Old Fort.” The town hall was later cancelled by Kealy on May 12th due to illness.
The meeting was intended to be just for residents, to explore possible options of how he can try and help advocate for them.
According to the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, the landslide has shifted more than 400 metres of material, and the Old Fort Road leading to the nearby subdivision has been shifted over 100 metres down slope.Â
An evacuation order issued on April 20th and an evacuation alert issued on April 23rd remain in effect as of May 1st.Â
