Trini Gibson, who works at Tansi Friendship Centre and helps out with the foodbank, says the foodbank receives a donation from employees every year, though the amount varies.

Gibson said the donation is crucial to the foodbank.

“We were very grateful [for the donation] because that’s what our foodbank runs on,” Gibson said. “Without the donations, we wouldn’t have a foodbank.”

According to Gibson, the money will help the foodbank purchase more food to distribute to people in need.

In a conservation with Energeticcity.ca, Gibson said the foodbank serves around 60 families each week.

The best part of working at the foodbank is seeing the gratitude of the people who rely on it, said Gibson.

The foodbank runs once a week on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., according to Tansi Friendship Centre’s website.

Donate to the foodbank at the Tansi Friendship Centre, 4729 51st Street in Chetwynd.

Energeticcity.ca reached out to the District of Chetwynd for comment, but did not immediately hear back in time for publication.
