FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John and Chetwynd provincial courts between March 2nd and March 6th.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, March 2nd

Donald Eric Apsassin (born 1976)

Apsassin was found guilty of three counts of breaching a probation order on October 12th, 2025 in Blueberry River. 

They were handed a conditional sentence, which is a sentence to be served outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called ‘house arrest,’ for 45 days. Apsassin was ordered to pay a $100 victim surcharge, which goes towards helping the victims of a crime.

David Douglas Cake (born 1964)

Cake was found guilty of discharging a firearm in a no-shooting area on September 29th, 2024 in Fort St. John. 

They were subjected to forfeiture, which allows the government to seize property and assets ‘tainted’ by crime, fined $1 and ordered to pay $0.05 as a victim surcharge. 

Cake was also ordered to pay $4,999 in restitution, which requires the offender to pay the victim for financial losses the victim suffered because of the crime.

Zackery Michael McNamara (born 1992)

McNamara was found guilty of the following: 

  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm on December 13th, 2025 in Dawson Creek. 
  • Assault with a weapon on December 29th, 2025 in Fort St. John.  
  • Theft worth $5,000 or under on December 29th, 2025 in Fort St. John.
  • Possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose on December 29th, 2025 in Fort St. John.
  • Breaching a probation order on December 29th, 2025 in Fort St. John.

They were handed a jail-time served sentence and a probation order of 12 months, issued a DNA order, told to report for sample collection and given a firearms prohibition for 10 years. 

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, March 4th

Jeffrey James Kalb (born 1984) 

Kalb was found guilty of mischief worth $5,000 or under and driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention on March 5th, 2024 in Fort St. John. 

They were fined $2,500 and had to pay a victim surcharge totaling $450. They were also 

handed a 30-month probation order. 

Chetwynd Provincial Court sentencing, March 5th

Terrance Jamie Gibson (born 1977) 

Gibson was found guilty of driving with a prohibited or suspended licence on March 21st, 2025 in Chetwynd. 

They were ordered to pay a $500 fine and $75 as a victim surcharge. 

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, March 6th

Arshdeep Singh (born 1997)

Singh was found guilty of assault on December 29th, 2024 in Fort St. John. 

They were handed a conditional discharge, which means the record won’t show a conviction if a person meets the conditions the judge sets, and a probation order for two years. 

Gurdeep Singh (born 1993)

Singh was found guilty of assault on December 29th, 2024 in Fort St. John and breaching a release order on May 13th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

They were handed a conditional discharge and a probation order for two years. 

Kuldeep Singh (born 1997)

Singh was found guilty of assault with a weapon on December 29th, 2024 in Fort St. John

They were handed a conditional discharge, a DNA order and a probation order for three years and were ordered to report for sample collection.
