Tumbler Ridge PAC collects more than $68K to help families affected in school shooting
A GoFundMe page launched by the Tumbler Ridge PAC for victims of the deadly mass shooting in the community on February 10th has raised more than $68,000 on February 11th.

TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — A fundraising page for families affected by the Tumbler Ridge school shooting has raised more than $68,000.
The Tumbler Ridge Parent Advisory Council (PAC) launched the GoFundMe page on February 11th as a collaborative effort with the mayor of Tumbler Ridge, Darryl Krakowka, and the District of Tumbler Ridge council.
As of February 11th at 1:45 p.m., $68,011 has been raised.

The Tumbler Ridge RCMP responded to a call of an ‘active shooter’ at the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School on the afternoon of February 10th.
An emergency alert was issued warning the community to stay inside, on lockdown as RCMP searched for a ‘female’ with brown hair.
It was confirmed that nine people died, including the suspected shooter, with approximately 25 others assessed and triaged at the local medical centre.
PAC said the GoFundMe was established to raise funds for the families who have been directly affected by this event.

The funds raised will be used to provide essential assistance such as covering unexpected expenses, supporting daily needs and helping with ongoing recovery efforts.
It said: “Our community has always stood strong in times of adversity, and this is an opportunity for us to extend a helping hand to those who need it most.
“Whether you are a local resident or someone touched by the spirit of Tumbler Ridge, your contribution—no matter how big or small—will make a meaningful difference.”
Nicole Noksana, chair for Tumbler Ridge PAC, told Energeticcity.ca in a written statement that PAC is working closely with the District of Tumbler Ridge and Lakeview Credit Union to ensure there is a trusted and transparent way to help the affected families.
She said: “Donations can now be made directly at Lake View Credit Union. An official account has been established to support the families most impacted by yesterday’s tragedy.”
In addition, PAC has created a meeting space at the Tumbler Ridge Community Center for the community to come together which started today, February 11th at 10 a.m.
Everyone is welcome to attend and connect. Mental health professionals will be available to provide support where needed.
Noksana asked the community to continue to rely on verified information from school officials and law enforcement and to respect the privacy of families.
