More temperature records fall across B.C. amid warm weather, including in northeast

CHETWYND, B.C. — A fresh round of daily high temperature records fell in communities across British Columbia as recent warm weather persists across several regions, including in Chetwynd.
Environment Canada says 17 communities saw their daily high temperature records matched or broken on Thursday, brought in by a ridge of high pressure moving over B.C.’s coast.
The temperature hit 16.4 C in Abbotsford on Thursday, more than a degree higher than the old record of 15.1 C set in 1984.
Agassiz was more than two degrees warmer than its previous record of 14 degrees also set in 1984, reaching 16.1 C on Thursday.
Victoria also reported a new daily high for February 5th, hitting 13.9 C and breaking the old record of 12.6 degrees set in 1987.
Other places setting new temperature records on Thursday include Squamish, Sparwood, Prince George, Nanaimo, Hope, Duncan, Chetwynd, Campbell River and Bella Coola.
