FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Fort St. John and North Peace region community members are invited to take part in an event focused on local energy and climate priorities.

The Community Energy Conversation event is being hosted by Northern Regional Energy Dialogues (NRED), a five-year research collaboration between the University of Northern British Columbia and the University of Victoria, in partnership with the Peace River Regional District (PRRD).

According to Aleah Jordan, the project’s community coordinator, the conversation will build on the PRRD’s Regional Climate Resiliency Plan and will explore how its priorities can be advanced at the local level.

Jordan added the event will provide residents with an opportunity to “share insights on local energy priorities and challenges, discuss opportunities for advancing community-led energy planning” and “contribute to shaping future regional energy dialogues.”

The Fort St. John session is part of the project’s first phase, which includes conversations with communities and First Nations across northern B.C. to gather local perspectives and priorities related to energy.

The Community Energy Conversation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28th, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Pomeroy Sport Centre, located at 9324 96th Street, on its second floor.
