Pouce Coupe rolls out seniors support programs in October

Pouce Coupe will be rolling out a trio of programs in early October, which aim to provide ‘cost effective assistance’ to local seniors.

POUCE COUPE, B.C. — Seniors in Pouce Coupe will soon have access to new support services.

The Village of Pouce Coupe announced in a press release on Thursday that starting in early October, it is rolling out a trio of programs through a partnership with United Way British Columbia’s Better at Home program, the Dawson Creek Society for Community Living and the South Peace Community Resources Society.

  • Meals – Three home-delivered meals per week at $5 each.
  • Housekeeping – Light housekeeping twice a month for $17.50 per visit.
  • Snow removal – Driveway clearing from November to March, up to three times monthly, for $20 per service.

“This program is another step in supporting Pouce Coupe’s seniors,” said mayor of Pouce Coupe, Danielle Veach. “By working with our regional partners, Pouce Coupe is securing more tools to help seniors live independently and safely in their own homes.”

Funding for the initiative comes from United Way B.C., with services delivered locally through the partner organizations in collaboration with the village.

Applications are available at the village office (5011 49th Avenue, Pouce Coupe) or at the Dawson Creek Society for Community Living (1334 102 Avenue, Dawson Creek). Completed forms can be dropped off, emailed to apearson@dcscl.org or faxed to 250-782-2662.

The program will initially serve 15 participants per service, with a waitlist for additional applicants.

Eligible residents include those aged 65 and older, as well as younger adults identified as needing support under the program’s guidelines.
