PRRD to offer free major appliance recycling
Starting August 15th, residents in the Peace River Regional District will have a free way to recycle their old appliances.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Residents in the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) will soon have a free way to recycle their old appliances.
Starting August 15th, residents across the PRRD will be able to recycle large household appliances free of charge at all PRRD landfills and tier one transfer stations.
The new service, made possible through a partnership with the Major Appliance Recycling Roundtable (MARR), covers both refrigerated and non-refrigerated appliances, including fridges, freezers, ovens, washers, dryers, dishwashers and air conditioners.
MARR, a province-wide program manager for appliance recycling, works with local collectors and communities to ensure items are safely dismantled and processed, keeping harmful materials out of the environment.
A complete list of accepted items can be found at largeappliancerecycling.ca. For PRRD landfill and tier one transfer station locations, visit the PRRD’s website.
Residents with questions about the program can contact the PRRD environmental services department at 250-784-3200 or environmental.services@prrd.bc.ca.
