FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A group of four people arrested in Fort St. John in February now have pre-trial conferences scheduled.

Barbara Reno, Jakob Sherwood, Jack Capot Blanc and Gavin Davis were all arrested early in 2025 following an RCMP operation to recover a truck that had allegedly been reported as stolen.

In the weeks and months following their arrests, several court dates for judicial interim releases and to schedule a trial have been announced and adjourned.

The latest fix-date hearing for the quartet, initially scheduled for Thursday, July 24th, was delayed by one day before ultimately being held on the 25th.

According to Court Services Online, all four are scheduled to attend a pre-trial conference on Friday, August 1st.

Pre-trial conferences are held to go over information such as disclosure of the Crown’s evidence, planned witnesses, any admissions either party is willing to make and whether it’s possible to settle the matter without a trial.

Davis is facing charges of possession of stolen property, robbery, aggravated assault, breaching a release order, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and two counts of using an imitation firearm to commit an indictable offence.

Davis previously had a technical suitability report hearing scheduled for Tuesday, July 29th, which is still set to go ahead as of publication time. Technical suitability reports are required in case the court intends to issue electronic surveillance conditions, in the event of something like a house arrest sentence.

Capot Blanc, meanwhile, has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, using an imitation firearm to commit an indictable offence, robbery, aggravated assault, possession of stolen property and breaching a probation order.

Reno faces charges of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and possession of stolen property, while Sherwood has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault and possession of stolen property.

A fifth person was arrested alongside Davis, Capot Blanc, Reno and Sherwood, however all charges against them have since been dropped.
