Show and Shine showcasing jet boats to kick off world championship

A Show and Shine event showcasing the entries in the 2025 World Jet Boat Championship will take place on June 27th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Before they hit the water at Peace Island Park, entries in the World Jet Boat Championship will hit the parking lot at Chances Casino in Fort St. John.

A Show and Shine event, showcasing the entries in the 2025 World Jet Boat Championship will take place on Friday, June 27th.  It will be hosted by Jet Boat Racing Canada and FSJ Car Culture.

A show and shine is an event, usually catered around cars, where owners clean up their vehicles for a ‘best in show’ award and connect with other enthusiasts.

A Facebook post from the B.C. Peace Country River Rats says the event will showcase both cars and racing boats, and will be “the perfect kick-off” to boat races in Taylor during the weekend.

“Come check out the cars and race boats [and] enjoy some tasty barbecue,” reads the post. “[It’s] fun for the whole family.”

The 2025 Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) Jet Boat World Championship is being co-hosted by Peace River, Grande Prairie and the District of Taylor.

Currently, Fort St. John driver Gord Humphrey continues to lead heading into the final three stages set to take place at Peace Island Park.

The Show and Shine will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre at 11308 Alaska Road in Fort St. John.

A guy who found his calling later in life, Edward Hitchins is a professional storyteller with a colourful and extensive history.

Beginning his journey into journalism in 2012 at Seneca College, Edward also graduated from Humber College with an Advanced Diploma in Print and Broadcast Journalism in 2018.  After time off from his career and venturing into other vocations, he started his career proper in 2022 in Campbell River, B.C.

Edward was attracted to the position of Indigenous Voices reporter with Energeticcity as a challenge.  Having not been around First Nations for the majority of his life, he hopes to learn about their culture through meaningful conversations while properly telling their stories. 

In a way, he hopes this position will allow both himself and Energeticcity to grow as a collective unit as his career moves forward and evolves into the next step.

He looks forward to growing both as a reporter and as a human being while being posted in Fort St. John.
