The North Peace Regional Airport’s runway repaving has been delayed until June 16th due to rainy weather.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The North Peace Regional Airport repaving project has been delayed due to heavy rainfall.
One of the runways has been closed for pavement work since Monday, June 9th, but this has reportedly not caused flight delays, according to Stacy Smith, the airport’s managing director.
He initially expected the work at the Fort St. John airport to be concluded on Thursday, June 12th but heavy rainfall has caused delays.

“We had planned on getting the bulk of the remaining paving done, but Mother Nature wasn’t cooperating,” said Smith.
Smith said paving operations have been postponed until Monday, June 16th when the weather is expected to improve.
“Our goal is to get it finished up by late Tuesday if the weather holds,” said Smith.
Smith said there will also be line painting done after the surface is dry before the runway is reopened.
