(UPDATE) Collision reported at Alaska Highway intersection

First responders are currently at the scene of a collision in Fort St. John at the junction between 259th Road and the Alaska Highway.

Updated, June 9th, 5:11 p.m.: The collision described in the article below has been cleaned up and all traffic in the area has returned to normal.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — First responders have left the scene of a collision in Fort St. John now that it has been cleaned up.

The collision reportedly took place in the afternoon of Monday, June 9th, at the intersection of 259th Road and the Alaska Highway.

Photos from witnesses showed firefighters and police officers on Highway 97.

When contacted for more information at 3:30 p.m. on June 9th, the Fort St. John Fire Department said it had nothing to share, as the crew that had responded to the incident hadn’t returned to the station.

Energeticcity.ca received word at 5 p.m. that the road had been cleaned up and traffic had returned to normal.
