HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. — With just a few weeks remaining in the 2024-25 school year, high schoolers set to graduate this summer in Hudson’s Hope are being encouraged to apply for the district’s annual scholarship.

Applications are now open for this year’s Leo and Ethel Rutledge Scholarship, a $1,000 bursary awarded yearly to a grade 12 graduate interested in pursuing a post-secondary education.

According to a social media post, the district is seeking applicants planning to attend a post-secondary institution within two years of graduation who have demonstrated academic achievements and community service.

In order to apply, students are encouraged to include their final marks from grade 11 and the marks they’ve received so far in grade 12, a description of the “extra-curricular, volunteer or community activities” they’ve participated in, their employment history and a summary of their goals and plans after graduation.

Applications are being accepted for the scholarship until June 1st. They must be delivered to the municipal office in a sealed envelope marked ‘Scholarship Application.’

Outside of Hudson’s Hope, the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) also provides a number of scholarships each year to graduating students throughout the region.
