Behind the Scenes
I wanted to highlight a new type of article we have been trying out: Explainer Articles. Since opening 17 years ago in 2008, there have been some stories that we have been covering that entire time. Or, there are some topics that are complicated enough to warrant multiple articles. While we try our best to link to past stories, we understand it can be difficult to find an article written multiple years ago. That is why we have started to write explainer articles where we summarize bigger stories and provide links to these articles. That way, if you are hoping to catch up on a long-running issue or learn more about a bigger problem in the region, these can be a great reference point.
Here are a few we have written so far. If you have any feedback or have an idea on another topic we should cover, let us know at contact@energeticcity.ca

Most-Read Stories of the Week
It’s always interesting to see what the readers of Energeticcity.ca are most curious about. Sometimes it’s a big decision that will impact property taxes, and sometimes it’s a new restaurant coming to town. Here are the most-read stories for the week of March 2 to 8, 2025:
- FSJ Homelessness Committee Reports Findings: after a six-month investigation. The Council’s Response Committee on Housing and Emergency Shelter was created in August 2024 and is a first in British Columbia.
- Highway 97 Vehicle Incident: occurred on March 4, 2025, at the 86th Street intersection in Fort St John. The road was reopened shortly after the incident.
- Load Restrictions Changed: on provincial roads in the North Peace. According to a public notice from the Ministry of Transportation, vehicles will be restricted to only carrying 70 per cent of their legal axle loading capacity on most paved and gravel provincial side roads.
