Casey’s Pub owner says pub will not be re-opening, thanks former patrons and staff

Casey’s Pub owner Dimitrios Karampelas released a public statement on January 3rd expressing his gratitude to everyone who has supported the bar through the years.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Casey’s Pub owner Dimitrios Karampelas released a public statement on January 3rd expressing his gratitude to everyone who has supported the bar through the years. 

On December 8th, 2024, the popular bar completely burned to the ground in the early morning after a fire started in the basement of the building. 

Karampelas says due to the fire, Casey’s Pub will not be re-opening its doors.

“As we step into a new year, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to all the wonderful staff and customers who have supported my pub over the years,” Karampelas writes. 

Karampelas also thanked the people who helped create laughs, memories, and stories at the establishment that will last a lifetime. 

“Although this chapter has come to an unexpected end, the bonds and experiences we shared will always hold a special place in my heart. Wishing you all a New Year filled with happiness, health, and success,” Karampelas concludes.

After the blaze, the pub’s staff organized a GoFundMe in order to help the displaced workers during the holiday season. 

As of publication time, $1,872 has been donated to the fundraiser.
