Dawson Creek to host the U13 Tier 3 Provincial Championships
The City of Dawson Creek has approved funding and accommodations for the Dawson Creek Minor Hockey Association (DCMHA) ahead of the upcoming 2025 U13 Tier 3 Provincial Championships.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — The City of Dawson Creek has approved funding and accommodations for the Dawson Creek Minor Hockey Association (DCMHA) ahead of the upcoming 2025 U13 Tier 3 Provincial Championships.
During their December 16th meeting, the City of Dawson Creek Council presented a letter from DCMHA President Jesse Kurjata.
The letter requested a $5,000 sponsorship from the city and to keep the Kin Arena ice open for an additional five days after the regular season to accommodate the championship.Â
In the letter, Kurjata says the championship would benefit the community’s economy, with 10 teams and 150 to 200 players visiting with their families.Â
“These families and players will be staying in our hotels, eating at our restaurants and shopping during their week trip to our town,” says the letter.Â
Council voted unanimously to approve the requests.Â
“It is refreshing to see that City Council continues to have a vision and that your strategic priorities identify prioritizing and supporting organized tournaments and events, we feel very strongly this Provincial event aligns directly with City Council’s priorities,” the letter said.Â

The U13 Tier 3 Provincial Championships will run from March 16th to the 21st, 2025.
