CORRECTION: Fort St. John welcomes nine new family physicians and specialists

The City of Fort St. John has hired nine new doctors to serve in the community.

Update 7:00 a.m. December 6th: The original version of this story claimed the City of Fort St. John had hired the new physicians and specialists. This is not the case. We regret the error and apologize for any inconvenience.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Northern Health and the City of Fort St. John will welcome nine new medical personnel set to come to the city in the coming months.

  • Dr. Azza Makary – Family Physician
  • Dr. Mario Rotundo – Family Physician
  • Dr. Claire Denley – Family Physician
  • Dr. Dil Iqbal – Family Physician
  • Dr. Gurinder Dhadda – Family Physician
  • Dr. Haydar Baban – Family Physician
  • Dr. Robert van Wiltenburg – Specialists
  • Dr. Aman Montazeripouragha – Specialist
  • Dr. Florence Akindele – Specialist

None of the six new family physicians are currently accepting new patients. 

Four will work out of the Fort St. John Family Practice Associates Clinic, while the remaining two will work out of ABC Medical Clinic.

The three specialists – Dr. Akindele, an OB-GYN, Dr. Van Wiltenburg, a Radiologist, and Dr. Montazeripouragha, an internal medicine specialist – will all work out of Fort St. John Hospital.

Many of the doctors expressed delight in coming to Fort St. John.

“Excited to be here,” said Dr. Iqbal. 

Some of the medical professionals noted the friendly community as a reason for coming to the city.

“I enjoy working with all the people here in the community and I am also excited to participate in a lot of outdoor and sports activities in the region,” said Dr. Claire Denley.

Dr. Gary Dhadda will take over another doctor’s practice and looks forward to returning to Fort St. John. 

“It’s nice to work in Fort St. John because it’s quiet and people are friendly. I also want to give back to the community as I completed my residency program here,” said Dr. Dhadda.

Recruiting within Northern Health remains ongoing, including a virtual hiring event for pharmacists being hosted on September 11th.
