Fort St. John Hospital emergency department diverted due to staffing challenges

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Northern Health has announced October’s first diversion at Fort St. John Hospital.

The health authority announced Tuesday, October 1st, at 2:47 p.m. that the department will be closed between 4:00 p.m. on the 1st and 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2nd, due to “staffing challenges.”

This follows another overnight diversion last week for the same reason.

People in need of life-threatening emergency care are urged to call 911 for transportation to the nearest available emergency department.

Meanwhile, non-urgent care patients can book an online appointment with Northern Health’s virtual clinic at 1-844-745-7811.
