Saunderson went on to explain that the driver of the commercial vehicle also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Both vehicles reportedly went up in flames after the crash. Highway 97 was closed in the area around the collision for a time before temporarily reopening to single-lane alternating traffic and ultimately fully reopening on July 17th.
Saunderson says the cause of the crash is still unknown, and the investigation remains ongoing.
