UPDATE: Severe Thunderstorm Watch over in Fort St. John and Fort Nelson
Environment Canada is warning North Peace residents to expect some potentially extreme weather Wednesday night.

UPDATE July 4th: The Severe Thunderstorm Watch has now ended in both communities.
FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Environment Canada is warning North Peace residents to expect some potentially extreme weather Wednesday night.
The agency has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the BC North Peace River and Fort Nelson areas.

According to its website, conditions are favorable for “severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing large hail and heavy rain.”
Increased rainfall could also lead to water pooling on roads and flash flooding.
According to the Environment Canada hourly forecast, Fort St. John is at risk of developing thunderstorms until roughly 6:00 p.m. on July 3rd, with showers expected to continue until 8:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, Fort Nelson is at risk of developing thunderstorms until as late as 9:00 p.m., with showers expected to continue until midnight.
