‘Staffing shortage’ causes service interruption at Fort St. John birthing centre
The Fort St. John birthing centre is facing a service interruption which started at 8 a.m. on April 15th and will last until 8 a.m. on April 16th due to ‘staffing shortages.’

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Fort St. John birthing center is currently experiencing a service interruption expected to last for 24 hours.
The service interruption at the birthing centre started at 8 a.m. on April 15th, and will continue until 8 a.m. on April 16th.
“Fort St. John Birthing Centre is experiencing a service interruption to maternity services…as a result of a staffing shortage,” Northern Health said, in a written statement to Energeticcity.ca.

This comes after the birthing centre was closed for 24 hours on April 3rd.
The health authority said the Dawson Creek and District Hospital and the University Hospital of Northern B.C., located in Prince George, are prepared to receive pregnant patients from Fort St. John who need care.
“Patients were notified about the service interruptions at the Fort St. John Birthing Centre and provided with information about what they should do, should they need care,” it added. “The Fort St. John Hospital emergency department is also ready to receive patients needing urgent care.”
