Dawson Creek hospital receives new X-ray machine

The Dawson Creek and District Hospital (DCDH) recently had one of its two X-ray machines replaced for approximately $482,700.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — The Dawson Creek and District Hospital (DCDH) recently had one of its two X-ray machines replaced for approximately $482,700.

According to Ashley Pannozzo, the community engagement liaison for the hospital’s replacement project, the old X-ray machine was a Canon Radrex-i model, installed in February 2013.

It was outdated and becoming difficult to operate due to maintenance issues and needing replacement parts.

The new machine is a Carestream Evolution and features improved image quality, increased reliability and shorter downtimes.

Pannozzo said acquiring and installing the new machine began in late October 2023 and took approximately 12 weeks. The upgrades were completed in the middle of January.

The $482,700 cost and 12-week time frame included removing the old machine, renovating the room, as well as buying and installing the new X-ray machine.
