Fort Nelson councillor joins BC Rural Health Network board of directors

FORT NELSON, B.C. — Northern Rockies Regional Municipality councillor Lorraine Gerwing recently joined the British Columbia Rural Health Network (BCRHN) board of directors.

The BCRHN aims to be the healthcare voice of rural residents of the province by communicating health concerns and solutions between communities and governments.

According to the BCRHN, Gerwing strongly believes the unique experience of living in the Northern Rockies should be represented.

Gerwing has lived in Fort Nelson for 34 years and raised two children within the municipality. She now spends time with her three grandchildren as well.

Gerwing completed an associate arts degree, majoring in English, and holds a management skills certificate. She also has communication, leadership development, facilitation and conflict resolution training.

Serving as a Northern Rockies Regional Municipality councillor since 2014, Gerwing is also the Fort Nelson Community Literacy Society chair.
