Three NPSS students win medals at Provincial Skills Competition
Three North Peace Secondary School students took home silver at the 2023 Skills Canada British Columbia Provincial Competition.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Three North Peace Secondary School students took home silver at the 2023 Skills Canada British Columbia Provincial Competition.
Northern Lights College students also brought home some hardware from the competition last April in Abbotsford.
John Ryder won silver for electrical wiring, Brodie Fitzgerald brought home silver for hairstyling, and Emily Brain and Lucas Benko both won silver for robotics in the secondary school segment of the competition.

The provincial competition followed the regional competition, which took place in March.
Skills Canada helps students prepare for chosen skilled careers through competitions, in-school programs, online challenges and young women’s conferences, according to Skills Canada BC.
In each competition, every student is given a set of blueprints or a plan, materials and a set amount of time to complete the task.
The competitions were in skilled trades careers such as carpentry, hairstyling, video production and welding.
Latest Stories
Students who won gold at provincials travelled to Winnipeg for the national competition in May.
Competitors who won at nationals will have the opportunity to compete in France next year while representing the WorldSkills Canada team.
