The team will spend the next six months training and fundraising as they prepare to cycle over 800 kilometres through northern B.C. over the course of seven days.

Tour de North fundraises for life-saving childhood cancer research and Camp Goodtimes, a program that provides a stress-free and medically supervised environment for children diagnosed with cancer to spend time with their families.

Cops for Cancer senior manager Ninon Daubigeon says the organization is excited to welcome this year’s riders.

“We’re excited to begin the important training phase of Cops for Cancer Tour de North that will raise impactful funds to change the future of childhood cancer forever,” said Daubigeon.

“With cancer still the leading cause of disease-related death in children under the age of 15, we know we have more work to do.”

The Tour de North team will hit the road on September 15th, beginning their journey in Prince George and crossing the finish line in Prince Rupert on September 21st.

Tour de North is one of four cycling tours in B.C. Since the first tour in 1997, law enforcement and emergency services personnel have raised over $52 million through Cops for Cancer events.

Last year’s Tour de North raised $150,999.
