Fort St. John bodybuilder places 3rd at Nationals
EDMONTON, A.B. — A local Fort St. John bodybuilder has come home with some hardware after competing at the Canadian Bodybuilding Federation Championships last weekend.
Janelle Shelfow has been training in bodybuilding with World Gym in Fort St. John for the past four years, and has competed at the Northern Classic in Fort St. John. Shelfow competed at the BCABBA Provincial Championships last July, where she placed 3rd in the Bikini ‘F’ competition, qualifying her for the trip to Edmonton.
Shelfow says that ever since she qualified for Nationals, she’s been competing hard every single day. She explains that she normally trained for two hours every day over the winter months, but ramped that up to a three hour daily training program in the last three months.
It turns out that all her hard work payed off. This past Saturday, Shelfow ended up once again competing in the Bikini competition, where she placed 3rd and brought home a Bronze medal.
“I went into it really confident because I felt I put in so much effort, and I did everything that I could to bring the best package to the stage,” said Shelfow.
