Investigation underway to determine cause of overnight car fire

The Fort St. John Fire Department responded to a call for assistance overnight, when a car had reported caught on fire.

Deputy Fire Chief Darrell Blades said the incident happened near 86th street and 89th avenue, around the area of North Peace Secondary School, at about 1:47 AM early this morning.

The Fire Department arrived to find fire erupting from the passenger side — the blaze it was quickly extinguished.

No injuries were reported, and the passengers of the vehicle were inside the building as crews arrived.

RCMP was also on the scene, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause.
