Over 100 residents meet at Montney Hall to discuss proposed wind farm

According to organizer Delbert Benterud, about 150 people came to the Montney Hall on Tuesday night to discuss the proposed wind farm for the region at a public meeting.

Benterud said that at least 86 surveys were given out, and he ran out of sheets because he was not anticipating so many people.

As reported earlier, the project proponent is UK-based Renewable Energy Systems. They have received approval from the Agricultural Land Commission — but not the PRRD.

Benterud said a representative with RES, Patrick Henn, came to the meeting and heard concerns from residents.

Now, he is hoping the PRRD will consider community concerns he and other residents have, and discuss this project in upcoming meetings.

The big concerns he has were that this project would decrease property values, that they were too tall (exceeding 500 ft in height), and that the project would benefit the UK-based company more than it would.
