City to launch Toys for Tickets campaign on December 1

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The City of Fort St. John is launching Toys for Tickets on December 1, which will run until noon of December 17.

Drivers can give a new, packaged and unwrapped toy/gift card/cash donation in lieu of paying a traffic violation ticket. Toys received are donated to the Salvation Army for distribution to the less fortunate in the community.

The tickets returned can’t be older than September 1 of this year.

The City says this date was chosen to avoid conflict with tickets that are currently in or being placed into collections.

Bylaw Enforcement will attach a sticker to meter violation tickets for the duration of Toys for Tickets.

Launched in 2005, the City says the program has received ‘tremendous’ support in it’s 10 years of operation.
