Executive Director of the Fort St. John Association of Community Living Cindy Mohr said $100 tickets for Of the Vine sold out, just like last year, and the event raised a rough estimate of $45,000.

“It went really well, there’s so much work that goes into it,” she said. “Our volunteers, they do the appetizers and things, they did an amazing job.”

The funds raised through Of the Vine go towards covering extra costs outside of the association’s contracts, such as mobility equipment, that will help members of the community be more independent.

To this extent, Mohr said the association helped purchase a wheelchair accessible home with the money raised last year.

There were also a silent auction and a live auction at Of the Vine, as well as Martin Dube as live entertainment for the evening.

She added there were a variety of items up for grabs at the silent auction, including gardening decoration, lights, art, a stereo, and donated baskets among others.

The live auction had items such as a birdhouse, a painting, and a prize package of a home cooked meal for eight, go for $2,500, $3,500, and $4,500, respectively.
